Weekend Inspiration #24: Flower Walls 2.0

The next generation of floral paper walls aren't paper at all but polymer clay, lighter than clay, but less fragile than paper. One artist sculpting these beautifully detailed flowers is Angela Schwer. She creates each piece -- dahlias, peonies, hydrangea, pods and more -- separately and then it is up her customers to either hang one or two and admire them as individual art piece, or compose them into flower walls for personal use, or at an event."There is nothing in the world to describe how I feel when working with clay ... it's just beautifully consuming," she says on her Etsy page,  Dilly Pad. "My first go at polymer clay was back in college in 2004 while doing an internship in an art classroom, teaching students of various mediums. At the time, I knew I wanted to work with the arts in some form, and had yet to decide exactly which medium I preferred. A year after my internship, I became pregnant with my son Davis, and knew that I wanted foremost to be a stay at home mother, and to create art in my spare time. And luckily, I've been blessed to still be sculpting today."
