Weekend Inspiration #27: Butterflies are Free

Last week Luxe Linen held its annual Luxe Launch in Los Angeles. The event was a showcase of the company's linen collections in action. Design teams were chosen by the linen company and RaycePR. Each designer was asked to interpret a specific linen. Needless to say, they all went over the top (or tabletop)! The venue, Vibiana, was a spectacular backdrop for the evening.There was an abundance of design inspiration and brilliant work, but since this is Easter weekend, I thought the tabletop by Percy Sales Events and Butterfly Floral and Event Design was the perfect expression of beauty and thoughtful design to release as my Weekend Inspiration.The linen combination they were asked to interpret was Silver Isabelle and Flint Va Va Voom featuring lush designs in black, white and silver. The result was a table entitled "Only Love Sees Color," an homage to the film Pleasantville in which a black-and-white world slowly turns into vibrant Technicolor as the people are filled with passion for art, nature, music, and each other.One of the elements I found especially clever was the pop-up butterfly menu card custom designed by Paper Crew. Said Sales, "My thought [on how these would work at an event] was that they would be tucked under the napkin. As guests lifted the napkin off the plate the butterflies would spring up." The table was centered by a massive flower tree that transitioned elegantly from black-and-white to color.As one of the main characters in the film says, "Where am I going to see colors like that? Must be awfully lucky to see colors like that. I bet they don't even know how lucky they are."
